This year, I am teaching in a new school, along with another school I've had for some time. In order to learn the students' names, I allow the students to Grade the Teacher.
At the beginning of the class, I give one student the job of tallying my mistakes (if any) and writing my score on the board. This generates a lot of interest on the part of the students! Here are my grades so far:
Thursday, September 15 (My helps this week: I could ask the students for the first letter of their name for a hint as needed, and I could use my class roster list.)
6th grade, section 3: 20/22=91%
5th grade, section 2: 20/21=95%
5th grade, section 1: 17/22=77%
3rd grade, section 3: 14/17=82%
(I didn't have the Grades 1 and 2 students grade me yet.)
Thursday, September 22 (My helps this week: I could NOT ask the students for the first letter of their name for a hint as needed, but I could still use my class roster list.)
6th grade, section 3: 19/19=100%
5th grade, section 2: 17/20=85%
5th grade, section 1: 20/21=95%
3rd grade, section 3: 14/18=78%
2nd grade, section 2: 15/20=75%
(I didn't have the Grade 1 students grade me yet.)
I haven't included any Monday classes yet, because I was on jury duty last Monday! Also, another teacher teaches the fourth grade classes in this building.
