Teachers spend a lot of money out of pocket on classroom supplies. This upcoming school year, with many budgets slashed, we will probably be spending more, or perhaps trying to do without, or with less.  Being the bargain hunter that I am, I like to scout around to find the best deals.

Many retailers offer a special teacher appreciation day, or even a year round teacher discount.  Just remember to bring your educator ID.  Here are some of the discounts and offers I've taken advantage of:

Michaels- 15% off all purchases, every day! Sign up for email circulars to receive 40% off regular price coupons, or look for them in your weekend newspaper.

JoAnn Fabrics- Sign up for the Teacher Rewards Card and receive 15% off all purchases, every day!  They also include coupons with the Teacher Rewards Card. Coming up on August  13 and 14, 2011, they will host Teacher Appreciation Days where teachers receive 20% off total purchase.

Ann Taylor LOFT- Sign up for "LOFT Loves Teachers" and receive 15% off regular priced clothing.

J. Crew and Banana Republic- 15% off regular priced clothing for both teachers AND students.  (This link also includes other student discounts, so if you have a current college student ID, you can save on other items of interest.)

Staples- Get your fresh new Sharpies for a new year!! Staples offers a Teacher Appreciation bag full of swag, including coupons to the first 100 teachers through the door on the designated day.  Days vary by state and location, so check the site.

Office Max- This one is coming up soon...Sunday, July 31, 2011 and Monday, August 1, 2011! Receive a reusable bag and 20% off everything you can fit inside!

Big Lots- Teacher Appreciation Day is on Saturday, August 13, 2011.  Teachers enjoy a discount on everything in the store.
